Other Events and Activities
Public Art main lawn all afternoon
Eyes Wide Open is the American Friends
Service Committee's widely-acclaimed exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq
War. It features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty, a field
of shoes and a Wall of Remembrance to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the
conflict, and more. (See

Creating Peace is a collaborative community
art project created by local artist Jeanne Friedel in memory of the lives lost
in the Iraq War. The work consists of ceramic and wood figures that represent
the people killed in Iraq. Adults & children are invited to creatively honor a
person who has died by selecting a sculpture to embellish.
Film Screening 2:00 pm,
Oak Park library
The Oak Park Main Library (next to the Park) will show Voices in Wartime at 2 pm
in the Veterans Room (2nd floor). This feature-length (74 min.) documentary
sharply etches the experience of war through powerful images and poetic words.
Amenities and Food
Public rest rooms are available in the small brick field house in the northwest
corner of the park and in the library facing the park on the west. Peace Fair
Headquarters is at the OPCTJ booth near the corner of Oak Park Avenue and Lake
Street with a second OPCTJ booth at the west park entrance in front of the
library. Food and beverages are available in the restaurants and shops on Oak
Park Avenue and Lake Street. The following eateries are official supporters of
